Psalm 68:1

It's not the best thing about me and I'm working on it – but I am not a morning person. Bad confession? My wife on the other hand is a morning person. Alarm rings. No 'snoozes'. Zoe's up and on her way – I remain in bed. But I'm getting better…day by day haha. So I'm always amazed when I wake up suddenly and feel alert and fresh and I hear the voice of God with such clarity – again, I'm learning to live this way day by day. And as I awoke this morning and put my warm feet on the cool carpet God spoke to me and this is what He said…

"May God arise, may His enemies be scattered."

I thought – I know that verse and so I looked it up. Psalm 68:1-2 says: "May God arise, may his enemies be scatteredmay his foes flee before him. As smoke is blown away by the wind, may you blow them away; as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God."

May GOD arise – but I heard His voice as my feet touched the floor. May God arise – as I rose. Interesting. Profound. Important.

Do you know who you are? You are an ambassador for Jesus Christ. Did you know that you walk in the authority of His great commission, to see the nations saved, to see the sick healed, to see the lame walk and the demons cast out? Did you know that as you walk, God walks before you!

I remember a great preacher once say when a Christian puts on the full armour of God, the devil doesn't see you – He only sees Jesus and at the sight of the King of Kings and at the sound of the Name above all names, Jesus, the devil has to flee. And as I put my still-warm feet on the carpet this morning, God whispered all of this into my heart. As I arose, so too did God and therefore my enemies will scatter before me because the Lord is for me and I am for the Lord!

In the UK there are two 'celebrities' (I use that in the loosest possible sense) called Trinny and Susannah who used to have a self-explanatory show called 'What Not to Wear' – what a negative statement! The Bible has so much to say on what we should wear!

Today's encouragement – know that you go out in authority, that God is handing over to you every place that you set your foot. Put on the full armour of God (see below) and clothe yourself with Christ Jesus! It's an incredible but amazing truth – as you arise, your enemies scatter before you because greater is He who is in you than he that is in the world!

Ephesians 6: 10-20 "The Armor of God "

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should."

  3. Lovely post David. Bless God for redemtion which has translated us to the side, camp and Kingdom of God, and has made us children and friends of God.

So when God arises, we rise with and in Him, and as all His enemies are scattered, blown away and perish; so also are all opposition that stand in our way scattered.
