It’s Valentines day (and so first and foremost a wonderful happy Valentines day to my wonderful wife Zoe – I did tell her that this morning as well just in case you’re wondering!) and it’s got me thinking about love.
Do you remember these cartoons? They used to be everywhere. I have memories of growing up in my parents home and seeing these two little people in a variety of situations with very witty captions on cards, in frames…they were all the rage. But looking at some of the captions they never really captured the true meaning of love. GOD is love…
Last night Keri Jones took us to 1 Corinthians 13 (Amplified version) and the best ever description of love. It is all these things: enduring, patient, kind, not envious, unselfish, not rude, not flattering, not touchy, fretful or resentful, keeps no record of wrongs, never fails….and the list goes on.
Today is a day that the world will think of love, or at least what it deems to be, or mean ‘love’. Let us show the world the true meaning of the word, let us bear the fruit of the Spirit in our character; the first ‘segment’ that is mentioned is – love.
As the cartoon says (I’ll let you decide if you think it’s a good description or not) Love is…in the palm of your hands. Yes, that’s the holding of hands in the picture but also, love is in our hand so we can give it away.
God so loved the world that he gave…
Happy Valentines Day
